The Highlands, Scotland

Despite growing up in London, I had never been to Scotland before this trip. As a kid, our family holidays always involved flying overseas and that stuck with me into adulthood too: if I wanted to go “away”, I just felt like I had to venture further afield than the United Kingdom. But with COVID-19 came never-ending travel restrictions, so heading up to Scotland suddenly seemed like a great idea. And boy am I glad we did. The rain was fairly unrelenting, particularly when we were on the Isle of Skye, but for the few hours when things did clear up, the landscapes were something else. So peaceful. So ancient. So green.
