Alberta, Canada

We arrived in Calgary on a Wednesday, and, after some rental car complications, were soon on the open road, headed for Montana. After a few hours of driving and a bite to eat, we finally reached the border crossing. It was 11:30pm. We were twenty minutes away from the lodge. Or so we thought. Turns out border crossings close. So we had to drive two hours east just to cross the border, before driving another two back to the lodge. But our misfortune didn’t stop there. The weather in Montana was miserable, the park we had wanted to visit was essentially closed - again, we didn’t know that National Parks closed - and the hotels we had booked didn’t want to give us any of our money back. So we drove back up to Canada in search of epic landscapes and better weather. All told we drove 18 hours just to end up an hour and a half from where we had started. But the following three days didn’t disappoint. Canada rarely does.
